League:  West Wickham 3 v Colts 2

Winning run comes to an end.

After 7 straight league wins, we were unlucky to lose this game, we did enough to win it really or at least come away with a point. But you have to take your chances when they arrive. They did, all three of them.

Our first chance came from Scott’s 25-yard volley, which the keeper saved well. Stuart then had a couple of chances on his weaker foot and James also had two great chances. As the first half progressed Wickham began to grow in confidence but were very lucky to take the lead. Another “whacked” clearance from the midfield looped high and up into the air. It fell just under the bar and over Rhys’s head. 1-0 (21)

The remaining part of the first half was frustrating as we continued to play some football and West Wickham Whacked it and chased it….HALF TIME

Following a good team talk and some changes to personnel the Colts came out all fired up for the second half and spent the first 15 minutes camped in the West Whackit half! Unfortunately another long ball caught us out and it was 2-0 (50). But the heads were raised, the football was neat and controlled and on the ground .

With James, Nathan and Stuart up front we were beginning to create chances again and following a through ball by Jack, Stuart was tripped in the box. PENALTY was the shout and penalty was the decision. Jack did the business. 1-2 (52). The Colts were now dominating the game, creating and missing chances though. Was it to be “one of those days”?  we hoped not…

The Colts drew level following a wonderful team goal. Rhys started it with a save and Remy found Ben who passed it to Stuart on the flank. He skipped past a challenge and sent James on his way into the box. James beat the defender and crossed the ball into the 6-yard box. Nathan was on hand to tap it in after the keepers fumble. 2-2 (58).  The Colts were now rocking. We were now first to the ball, winning the headers and playing like a team top of the league with a 100% record.

The whole game was now it West Whackit’s half as we went in search of a winner. We had three more chances but failed to convert them. The winning goal came after a throw in and ricochet that took the ball straight to a Wickham player to finish us off.

17.12.06 Key learning point: OTHER TEAMS WILL RAISE THEIR GAME AGAINST US SO WE NEED TO PLAY WELL IN BOTH HALVES.

M.O.M nominations were for Ollie, Jack, Rhys, David, JJ, and Ben but Remy was a tower of strength at the back and won it this week.
