League:  Horley 3 v Colts 7

Business as usual as Colts run riot.

Back to league action this week, which meant back to free flowing pass and move attacking football. Even the weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the massive twenty-four person crowd today.

Playing our familiar 4-3-3 formation and with specific instructions to get the ball forward more quickly this week, it didn’t take long for the goals to come. Jack O feeding Nathan with a delightful through ball which Nathan deposited into the goal. 4 minutes played and 1 nil. Within 60 seconds of the restart Stuart Lee saw his shot hit the post, it rebounded to Nathan, waiting exactly where should have been. 2 nil and the boys looked hungry today. Richard right and Scott left helped Jack O win all the lose balls in midfield which is where we had our grip on the game early on.

10 minutes in now and Stuart laid on yet another through ball, this time for James to round the keeper and finish with confidence. 3 nil. Horley did look lively on the attack as well today and got back into the game with a Colts style goal on 15 minutes only for Stuart to create his third and our forth goal of the game on 19 minutes. James latching on to a through ball.1-4. The goals were coming thick and fast now and Horley were not giving up as a move down the right wasn’t stopped with a tackle and they  pulled another one back. 2-4 and still only 21 minutes on the clock.

There was just enough time for one more goal before halt-time and it was the best of the game. Nathan won the ball and then moved forward with power and strength unselfishly looking up and seeing Stuart in a better position. Stuart ran past the Horley defenders, created some space for himself and then chipped the keeper from outside the box with his right foot and the ball flew into the top left corner. Fabulous goal.

Remy and Ollie were holding the line OK with George, JJ and then Michael doing their bit. The squad was used well today as Jack A-B, Frank and David all came on.

The second half was a quieter affair, but only just. Nathan, having his best game of the season so far assisted Stuart with two more goals to complete his hat trick on 36 and 42 minutes. The first was another chip with his right foot and the second was a one on one with the keeper.

However the best tackle of the game was from Michael, as he caught the Horley forward and used his strength to muscle him of the ball and come away with it, when the Horley defender was clean through. Super. Horley claimed the last goal on 43 minutes and that proved to be the last real action as the rain and wind took control. The boys did ever so well after last week to bounce back so positively today.

MoM nominations included Richard, Jack A-B, Jack O and Nathan (2 goals and 3 assists but Stuart Lee with a “hat-trick” of goals and assists won it.
