League:  Colts 6 v Purley Panthers 0

Colts hit Purley for 6 !

OUR THANKS TO PATRICK FOR THE PICTURES THIS WEEK

Top v Bottom should have been a landslide victory, 6 was great but it could have been 16 such was the ease of the victory. The whistle had barely gone and we had three chances to open the scoring within the first three minutes. We were playing 4-3-3 so we had to make it count in front of goal today with such a positive formation.

When Jack won the ball from a goal kick he seemed to have so much time to pick out his pass and what a pass! On the ground, through the channels and straight into the path of Stuart.1-0 (4). Although we only had three in midfield JJ, Jack and Ben were dominant and were keeping possession well. Jack produced a nice one-two with Stuart, who had dropped deep, which meant he had time to pick out a lovely pass to James who finished nicely. 2-0 (8).

The football wasn’t totally convincing on a sticky pitch but in patches it was very good. We were winning the tackles and keeping the ball moving all the time. The third goal was a reverse of the previous one really. It was James this time who played the killer pass and Stuart finished neatly in the corner. 3-0 (21) and the score was beginning to reflect the domination the Colts had. MORE was the shout from the sidelines!!

For the record Rhys first touched the ball after 26 minutes when he took a goal kick.

The fourth goal was a training ground routine put into practise. Stuart took the corner and played a one-two with Frank at the near post, the cross was perfect into the six-yard box and there was Nathan rising high to smash the header past the keeper. Great finish and a great move. 4-0 (33) HALF TIME.

The coaches made lots of changesin the second half but the football was the same and the goals kept coming. Scott’s great first touch from the keepers clearance set up Stuart to complete yet another hat-trick.5-0 (47).

The rout was completed with Stuart firing a powerful shot at the keeper who couldn’t prevent it from crossing the line. 6-0 (50). Purley had the better of the last 20 minutes, as we eased off, but Rhys when needed kept a clean sheet for his defence, he is still the best at our age group we have seen. FACT.

14.1.07 Key learning point: LET THE BALL DO THE WORK AS WE FOCUS ON DOING THE SIMPLE THINGS WELL.

M.O.M nominations included David, JJ, Nathan, Ollie and Scott. But Frank, who played well above his level today, pipped Stuart. Well done everyone.
