Shield Cup:Hamsey Rangers B 1  v   Colts 12

Colts stroll to victory and into Round 3

James got the Colts on their way today as he hit Stuart’s pass first time into the top corner.0-1 (11) It was the longest we had to wait for a goal all game! JJ playing in centre midfield set up the next goal with a great pass that no one else saw. David did the business with his left foot. 0-2 (21) and we were in dreamland.

The Colts were rampant with everyone wanting to be on the ball. Jack set up the next, after he won the ball from the goalkeeper’s drop kick. Stuart finished it emphatically into the top left corner. 0-3 (24). JJ was busy in midfield then had a hand in the next goal. He was dribbling his way into the box and was clipped right on the edge; Remy then curled the ball into the top corner from the resulting free kick.0-4 (26).

The whole game was now being played inside the Hamsey half. Jack, once again won the ball after the keepers goal kick, he headed it into Stuart’s path and he stroked it into an empty net, as the keeper had struggled to recover his position in time. 0-5 (30)

Frank was involved heavily in the next goal having won three tackles on the trot he passed it simply to the next closest boy who was Remy. He then dispatched a long ball straight to Jacks feet who in turn drilled the ball into the bottom corner making it 0-6 (32). HALF TIME.

We often start the second period slowly conceding cheap goals and today was no different. A speculative shot looped up and over the redundant Rhys.1-6 (39) and Hamsey playing with a bit more confidence had their best spell of the game, for a few minutes anyway. The Colts got back into the scoring habit following another goal keeping error. Ben headed a lose ball into the box, Jacks pressure put the keeper off and as he fumbled it. Jack was on hand to tap it into the net. 1-7 (46)

Stuart then completed his hat trick with the best goal of the game. It was a move that started deep in our half with Ollie playing football from the back, James stepped over the ball keeping the move flowing with a one touch pass and Stuart let rip from the edge of the box with his trusted left boot. Cracking. 1-8 (54). Leon then got in on the act as he scored the next two goals with Stuart setting up the first 1-9 (60) and James the second 1-10 (62). James having done all the hard work set up his partner in crime for the next as Stuart’s shot went in off the post making it 1-11 (63).

Remy then had the last word playing in an advanced position. JJ did the hard work in midfield and then found James, his cross was right under the cross bar and Remy steam rolled into the box taking him, 2 players, the keeper, the ball and the net through the back of the goal. The Colts declared on 1-12 after (70) minutes.

10.12.06 Key learning point: PASSING THE BALL TO FEET AND CREATING SPACE WINS GAMES EVERY TIME….

M.O.M nominations were for David, JJ, Remy but Leon just edged it.
