Colts just edged out in Cup nail-biter !
JEFC (Jason Euell Football Club) are a Premiership Charlton Academy trained team. Old Coulsdon Colts is a family run, fun football club. I know who I would rather play for ! This really was a David v Goliath cup match but the Colts boys should hold their heads high for never giving up and playing with real team spirit today. A big improvement on last week lads, thank you.
We started the brighter if truth be told. JEFC were a neat one touch passing team but at least we were getting the tackles in this week and we were closing them down much earlier as well. The first 15 minutes was end to end really with our 4-1-4-1 formation holding it’s own. We were then caught with some great defence splitting through balls. 5 of them actually, on 15,16,23,24 and 30 minutes. 5 nil at half time.
Rhys was doing his best to keep them out, Scott was tigerish in the tackle and Ollie headed everything that came near him. But it just wasn’t enough today.
The Colts had the ball more in the second half but JEFC defended well. In fact, JEFC had to score on the break away, problem was they did it 6 times against us on 32,38,48,55, 61 and 65!! Where we got 5 minutes of extra time from I don’t know, I think the referee (if that’s what you call him) had just realised the clocks went back an hour last night….
The match will be remembered more for the hour delay we had, the pick nick lunch just before kick off and the man in the middle with the quiet pea in his whistle, who was out for a Sunday stroll !!
MoM nominations included JJ, Remy, Scott, Nathan, Michael and Rhys but Ollie wins it this week.
